The Curriculum

The curriculum at Salterford House is wide and stresses hard work in a warm and supportive atmosphere.

Emphasis is placed on the development of literacy and Numeracy skills so that other subjects such as Science, Geography, History and French can be pursued at an early age. Provision is made for Music, Art, Design Technology, Information Technology, Physical Education, Games and Swimming.

We have chosen to follow the National Curriculum as this enables children to maintain continuity in their education if moving schools becomes necessary. It also ensures that we can keep pace with all the modern developments in education, provides a system that keeps parents informed of the progress of their children and gives a comparison with national achievement.

We combine the more traditional methods such as learning tables and spellings with the modern trends in IT, History and Geography work.

Our approach to the academic aspects of education has resulted in a high proportion of children achieving success in examinations for selective schools as well as in the SATs.
