Extra curricular activities

Extra curricular activities are an integral part of life at Salterford House. Every child is able to find one or more activities to broaden their education beyond the classroom.

Extra curricular activities include:

  • tennis coaching
  • golf lessons
  • cross country running
  • skiing
  • climbing
  • ballet
  • band
  • choir
  • drama club
  • cricket nets

Given opportunities like these from an early age, all children will be able to succeed at something and develop a high self esteem. This allows children to feel confident to tackle new and challenging situations in life.

Every year, many school trips are organised for the children. These include day trips to places such as The White Post Farm, Brackenhurst College, Nottingham Castle, Belton House, York, Stratford Upon Avon or Cadbury World.

In addition, the school organises a ski holiday and a trip to Normandy.

Year Six pupils spend a week in North Yorkshire in their final term learning field work and team building skills and having a great time!

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care is a great strength of the school. The children thrive and develop both socially and academically in a friendly and secure environment.

A code of conduct displayed around school reminds pupils about expectations of behaviour and respect for others.

Security is a high priority and the school gates remain locked throughout the school day and entry during this time is by buzzer and intercom. CCTV cameras monitor the driveway at all times.

At the Margaret Sherbrooke building, all doors are kept locked and can only be opened from the inside.

Parents have easy access to staff and the head teacher encourages parents to speak to her personally if they have any questions or concerns at any time.
